About BAMS

The course aims at providing basic education in Ayurveda leading to the degree of B.A.M.S. It aims at preparing graduates of profound scholarship in the science of Ayurveda having basic and fundamental knowledge in different subjects of Ayurveda backed up by extensive practical training. He should become an efficient teacher, a research scholar and a competent Ayurvedic physician (Kayachikitsaka) and surgeon (Shalyachikitsaka) to be able to contribute his mite in the medical and health services of the Country. Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is an integrated Indian Degree in the medical field. This degree programme is conferred to those students who studied the modern medicines and traditional Ayurveda. Ayurveda is one of the ancient medical systems of the world. It traces its roots to the Vedic period.

“BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is an undergraduate degree programme in old and ancient Ayurvedic medical system containing the prevention and cure to the body by increasing the harmony of kapha, pitta and vata”.



Duration of the Course
5 years 6 months including 1 Year Internship Programme.

BAMS is affiliated to Uttarakhand Ayurveda University and recognized by CCIM.

Eligibility Criteria For Admission To The Course
Any examination equivalent to H.S.C. / (10+2) examination, of any recognized Board/ University after 12 years of study. 50% in PCB for general category and 50% for reserved category Should have completed the minimum age of 18 years on or before the 31st December 2019 and not exceeding the maximum age of 35 years as on 31st December 2019

Commencement Of The Course
The course will commence with effect from October 2019 for the current academic year.

Scope of BAMS
The career opportunity after the completion of BAMS is not only in India but also in foreign countries. Many organizations are working in the manufacturing and research field in abroad are requiring the professional in this field. The candidate having the BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) degree is eligible to be called as a doctor and eligible to do the private practice. Job opportunities also exists in government sector. One can get job in government ayurveda hospital as ayurvedic pharmacist. After the completion of this course, candidates also have opportunity to open their own retail shop of Ayurveda medicines. Teaching field is also open for BAMS graduates. They can find employment in private and government ayurveda Institutes.
